A father and son team have worked tirelessly to give you the power to defend the universe!

Marc Cashman of AGS Advanced Software Inc. and his son, noted animator Tom Twolan have finally received RIM’s royal assent to sell their new action packed space defender game for the upcoming BlackBerry PlayBook tablet.

The game is a delightful cross between the famous Asteroids game and Brick Breaker with new and challenging twists.  This is the first game ever to have a new way of generating play levels.  The Core will be a popular game for the PlayBook and we can hopefully see it ported to other tablets and smartphones.

The Core is quite the departure from AGS’ usual products. Noted for their accounting integrated products Wireless Merchant a complete point of sale and CRM application, Cashman says “it was a blast working on this [The Core].  It had its own set of challenges but I really enjoyed doing this, especially being able to work with my son.  I’m very proud of my son and this will always be my favorite project!

Quite the departure indeed!  Wireless Merchant allows you to create quotes, orders, invoices, process credit cards right to your back office accounting systems.  All this right from your BlackBerry smartphone!

Look for The Core on BlackBerry App World when RIM introduces the BlackBerry PlayBook on April 19th!
